These two adrenaline junkies discover a team sport worthy of their highly competitive spirit, Quad Rugby. This sport is played by world-class athletes with gladiator-like wheelchairs, and combines elements of basketball, football and ice hockey. Quad Rugby used to be called Murderball, because of the aggressive nature of the game. The sport renews their spirits, and Steve and Jason start to live life again, –a new life that is different not over.

“I am so ecstatic about what is happening with this film. It has always been my dream to be a filmmaker, and my dream has come true. Even The Difficult Times Tell A Great Message
"The Goal has certainly portrayed this spiritual principle of life."

Pastor Richard Harper and his wife were privileged to a screening  of the full feature length movie The Goal.  They were amazed to have their emotions captured by the story. Especially with such  tragic events at the beginning the movie, the conclusion of The Goal sees the actors delighted and rejoicing to see how God had worked in the midst of a tragic event.

The Goal has portrayed life's reality. "Everything in our live's is not good and is even
sometimes tragic." admits Pastor Harper. "However, when we trust God through all events of our life, He will indeed cause everything to work together for our good (Romans 8:28)".

The Goal has certainly portrayed this spiritual principle of life. Many members of the Gadsden area and from CrossPoint Community Church have enjoyed seeing this movie, as director Darla Rae has been there for screenings in support of local area charities and organizations.

Question and Answer sessions follow many of the upcoming showing in Alabama and Houston. Please call for interviews to be booked directly with Darla Rae.

The Goal Enjoyed and Recommended By LA
MovieGuide magazine says the "...THE GOAL has such a compelling story and big heart that it's well worth watching."

The Denver debut of "The Goal" had dignitaries from near and far. One of the long distance travelers was Dr. Ted Baehr of the noted Movieguide magazine.

Spending time with the director Darla Rae and other actors during the VIP opening, Dr. Baehr had been looking forward to seeing the movie, knowing the basic story and how long Darla had been working on the project.

Dr. Baehr's review was good and says "since the movie was made to raise funds for various organizations concerned with quadriplegics, MOVIEGUIDE® urges people of faith and values to see THE GOAL."

Very important and pleased that Dr. Baehr finds the movie worthy of his time and review.

"The Goal" now prepares to open in Alabama, Houston and Michigan, where many people are looking forward to the movies debut to support local organizations, quad rugby teams and school organizations.

"A very busy schedule as I go to all these places, but it's worth it to let everyone know that The Goal is here for people to know that they can make it, whatever their challenges are. And everyone has challenges, be they physical or otherwise." Darla states. "This was my big dream and others know through this that they can make it and have the guys from the team also be their inspiration."

Question and Answer sessions follow many of the upcoming showing in Alabama and Houston. Please call for interviews to be booked directly with Darla Rae.

Local filmmaker spreads hope through acting workshops using everyday scenarios

Denver— Darla Rae of Film It Productions runs children's acting workshops that give more to her students than a new skill. Her workshops also teach children about understanding, respect, and the possibilities life can have through everyday scenarios.

Rae is very passionate about teaching and has said that it is something she feels must be shared with the younger generations. “I try to teach these workshops using examples that teach more that just acting. I want these children to learn to be more tolerant and excepting of others all well as gain self esteem,” said Rae.

Movie to Raise Money for Disabled Teams

Darla Rae's recent film about the lives of two spinal cord injured quadriplegics through the acute stages of their respective accidents at Craig Hospital, located in Englewood, Colo., has to "goals" — entertainment value and fund raising. One of the objectives of "The Goal" is to raise funds to build a training facility that can house all the disabled athletic teams in Colorado as well as other disabled athletes from the Western United States.

"The Goal," written, directed, and produced by Rae, follows two athletes -- one on his way to the Olympics, the other on the path to professional soccer -- whose lives are changed forever when tragedy strikes and both men become quadriplegics. Both men overcome their circumstances and rebuild their lives with the help of wheelchair rugby.

Jason Regier, costar of "The Goal" said, "What I finally learned after my accident is that life isn't over, it's just different."

Movie, “The Goal,” To Screen at Craig Hospital

World renowned spinal cord injury hospital hosts screening of quad rugby film

Englewood, Colo.-- A preview screening of the award winning feature film, “The Goal,” will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006, 6pm at Craig Hospital gymnasium. A question and answer session with cast and crew including Nashville recording artist, Laura Dodd, and gold medal wheelchair rugby athletes Jason Regier and Chance Sumner who did their rehabilitation at Craig Hospital will follow the screening. Craig Hospital is located at 3425 S. Clarkson in Englewood, Colorado, 80113.

“The Goal” was written, directed, and produced by Darla Rae who felt that Craig Hospital was a perfect place for a preview not only because they are leaders in spinal cord injury rehabilitation and research, but because the facility was also used for filming. The story follows two athletes, one on his way to the Olympics, the other on the path to professional soccer. Their lives are both changed forever when tragedy strikes and both men become quadriplegics.

“The Goal” shows how both men overcome their circumstances and rebuild their lives with the help of wheelchair rugby. Jason Regier, costar of “The Goal” said, “What I finally learned after my accident is that life isn’t over, it’s just different.”

Previously, “The Goal” has only screened at the 11th Annual Temecula Valley International Film/Music Festival, 11th Annual International Family Film Festival in Santa Clarita, California, and International Film Festival in Mumbai, India. The film brought home awards from each film including the Golden Ten Award in the Sports Based Feature Film Category which entitles “The Goal” to a spot in the 24th Milano International FICTS Festival in October, 2006.

Audience response to “The Goal” has been overwhelming. “After one screening, I did a question and answer session and a man stood up and told us that his daughter had suffered a spinal cord injury and he thought everything was a lost cause. But after seeing the film he had hope. People really get it. That’s what our movie is about. Its hope,” said Rae.

One of the objectives for “The Goal” is to raise money to build a training facility that can house all the disabled athletic teams in Colorado as well as other disabled athletes from the Western United States. Individual screenings of “The Goal” can also be set up as fundraisers for other non-profits with five dollars from each DVD purchase benefiting the hosting non-profit.
