EXCELLENT RESPONSE TO INDIAN’S FIRST EVER “SPORT MOVIES & TV - 1ST MUMBAI INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL”

The 4 day long Sports Movies and TV festival, organized by the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS), Italy, in association with Ten Films, India, concluded on 5th March 2006 at Fun Republic, Andheri.

The Festival screened some of the best sports movies from different parts of the world. The jury members consisting of some of the eminent personalities, including actor Sarika, billiard legend Michael Ferreira, celebrated columnist Shobha De, Award Winning Film Director Sudhir Mishra, and Noted AD Man Ranjan Kapoor selected movies from different categories amongst the Feature Film, short and long documentary of sports and non sports category for Golden and Silver Ten Awards.

Some of the movies that received Golden Ten Awards under the sports category in the feature films, short and long documentary were THE GOAL (Director DARLA RAE), RED BULL RAMPAGE – RETROSPECTIVE (Producer DEREK WESTERLUND) and THE TRAIL OF THE EAGLE (Director ALAIN MARIE) respectively, and the Silver Ten Awards were given to HARDER THEY FALL (Director LEE CIPOLLA), BAJA AIR EXPEDITION (Director FABIO BLANCARTE), WEEKEND WARRIORS (ALEXA OONA SCHULTZ) respectively.

The best movies presented in Mumbai will be shown in the Final Phase of "Sport Movies & TV - 24th MILANO INTERNATIONAL FICTS FESTIVAL" that will be held from 27 October to 1 November 2006 in Milan (Italy).

Special Mention Certificates under Golden Ten Awards were given to FALLING (Director CLAYTON ALLIS), THE LAST CIGERETTE (Director ANIRUDH SHARMA) and under Silver Ten Awards were THE GIRL WITH AN ACCENT (Director KALPANA SINGH CHITNIS), and KALAAKAR (Director TEJAS DEOSKAR).

Mr. Ritesh Sinha, Festival Director, said, “We at Ten Films are very happy that though this was the first year of the festival, we received excellent response from the audience and the film fraternity. This was all possible due to the strong support and encouragement we received from our International partners in Italy -- F.I.C.T.S. and we at TEN FILMS' are looking forward to bring the festival again next year”.

"The Goal" gets inspiration at TVIFF Denver-based film receives the    Maggi  Allen Filmmaker Award

Temecula, Calif.-As director, writer, and producer of "The Goal," Darla
Rae's ambitions for her first feature film started to become reality on
September 18, 2005. She was awarded the Maggi Allen Filmmaker Award
at the Temecula International Film and Music Festival (TVIFF).

TVIFF celebrated the 11th anniversary, however, this was the inaugural
year for the award. The Maggi Allen Filmmaker Award was named for the
Co- founder of TVIFF. This award is given to the best inspirational
film. "It was very exciting getting into the festival, not to mention
winning this award at our first festival," said Rae.

"Now that we have been able to experience an actual film festival, my
goal for "The Goal" is to do even better at the next one," said Rae. The
film will be featured at the International Family Film Festival (IFFF)
in Los Angeles. The dates of the IFFF are September 23, 2005 through

 "The Goal" wows during private screening

Houston-"The Goal" a movie made locally in Denver, screened privately in Houston on Saturday at Grace Community Church where the story first started. Among the lucky viewers were members of the Gloore family, who inspired the story. "The Goal" chronicles the lives of two athletes who are on an adrenaline track. One is on a path Olympics and the other to the world of professional soccer. Steve and Jason cross paths while rebuilding their lives following severe accidents. "The Goal" shows that tragedy affects everyone, not just the injured. Writer, director, and producer, Darla Rae said, "it moved the family to tears, partly because of reliving the tragic accident, but also because it is so inspiring and encouraging." Gene Gloore, patriarch of the
family, said "The Goal" hit the nail on the head. "It encourages people in general to reach for their dreams, and to not take no for an answer," said Rae.
"The Goal" has won awards at the International Family Film Festival and Temecula International Film and Music Festival. The movie was filmed entirely in Denver with local talent.
